A wave of "AI-powered" investing tools has arrived in India, and the quality varies enormously. Some do genuine quantitative analysis and use AI to explain it. Others are a chatbot bolted onto a price chart. Before you connect a tool to your broker account, it is worth knowing what separates the useful from the decorative.

This is a buyer's framework, not a ranked list — because the right tool depends on what you actually need. Here is what to evaluate.

1. Does the engine do the math — or does the AI?

This is the most important and least obvious question. Large language models are excellent at language and unreliable at arithmetic. A trustworthy tool computes every metric — weights, beta, XIRR, drawdown — with a deterministic engine, and uses AI only to interpret and explain those numbers. If the AI is generating the figures directly, treat them with suspicion.

2. How does it access your account?

Any tool worth trusting uses official, read-only broker integration — it can see your holdings and positions but cannot place orders, modify them, or move money. Never share your broker password or trading PIN with a third-party tool. Read-only API access (as offered by brokers like Zerodha) is the safe standard.

3. Does it analyse risk, or just performance?

A returns number alone is nearly useless without context. Good analysis tools show you the *shape* of your portfolio: concentration in your top holdings, sector exposure, portfolio beta, and drawdown history — and they compare your returns to a relevant benchmark. If a tool only tells you "you are up 12%", it is a tracker, not an analyser.

4. Advice vs analytics — know the difference

A platform that confidently tells you which stock to buy is making a very different — and regulated — claim than one that shows you the risks in your existing portfolio. Legitimate analytics tools are careful about this line: they give you data-driven insight and let you decide. Be wary of anything promising tips, guaranteed returns, or "the next multibagger".

Try analysis done right

AIVITTA computes every metric with a deterministic engine, connects read-only, and uses AI only to explain — never to invent numbers or hand out tips.

Where AIVITTA fits

AIVITTA was built around exactly these principles: a quantitative engine computes portfolio health, concentration, sector exposure, risk decomposition, XIRR and benchmark comparison from your live holdings; AI layers on a plain-English explanation of what it means. Access is read-only, and the platform is explicit that it provides analytics and education — not investment advice. You can start on a free tier and see the full analysis on your own portfolio before deciding whether it earns a place in your routine.
